DAS: Black Clubwear for Everyday and Nights Out

What I like about DAS is how much can happen within an almost entirely black collection. The shapes, the surfaces, the way a piece catches the light. There is a clear thread running through Dilşah’s designs, and that is one of the reasons I wanted to bring them to GRÜNWASCHEN. She is also a lovely person.

DAS — Designing Altered States is the independent fashion label founded by Dilşah Altınkepçe. She explores altered perception through clothing, working with sculptural silhouettes, experimental construction and handcrafted details. The collections are designed by Dilşah and produced in the brand’s atelier in Bursa, Türkiye, through limited and made-to-order production.

At GRÜNWASCHEN, DAS brings something different to the selection. Its collection is built around black in a way that none of our other collections are. I like having that alongside all the other designers.

If you love black, there is a lot here for you. And if your wardrobe has plenty of colour, a DAS piece can still be an interesting addition. A particular shape or surface can change an outfit quite a lot.

The Abysmal Eye: a shirt-and-trouser set for everyday and parties

The Abysmal Eye shirt and trousers are a good example of how I see this collection. I would recommend the set for everyday wear, but I can also imagine it at a party or a rave.

The trousers are wide and long, and the shirt has a boxy fit. I really like that combination. The printed faux leather shines and reflects the light beautifully, so there is something happening on the surface as well as in the cut.

You can wear them together as a full look, or bring just the shirt or the trousers into an outfit you already have. That is part of what I like about these pieces: there are different ways to use them.

Transmission: a top that takes around two weeks to make

The Transmission tops are some of the pieces I find most beautiful in the collection. All those lines are sewn onto the top by hand. Making one takes around two weeks.

I like how the lines flow across the organza. The shape is asymmetric, the fabric is sheer, and you can see the work that has gone into it. There is a lot to look at in one top.

We have both the black and the black-and-beige version in our selection. They show another side of DAS, with the handwork and the lightness of the fabric becoming a big part of the piece.

Misfit: a black maxi skirt with two front slits

The Misfit skirt is one of those pieces that feels quite basic and special at the same time. Customers really like the two front slits, and I can see why. They give the long silhouette something extra.

I would wear this black faux leather maxi skirt with tall boots. For winter, I also like the idea of layering trousers underneath it. You can build quite different outfits around the same skirt, including something simple for the day or a look for going out.

It is another example of how much the cut can do. A few choices in the shape make a familiar piece feel different.

Stellar Rift: changing the shape of an outfit

The Stellar Rift corset is a piece I would recommend if you want to do something with the silhouette of an outfit. You can combine it with something more fitted, or wear it over something loose and wide.

I like the straps and the metal buckle details. The structured black faux leather adds another shape to what you are wearing. It can be a relatively small change to a simple outfit, with quite a visible effect.

I can imagine it for a club night, and I would also wear it during the day. That overlap between partywear and everyday clothing is what interests me about DAS. I approach the selection as unisex, with room for different people to make the pieces their own.
